Given the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the steps being implemented by State and Federal Governments, DJ Smith Group is taking considered action to ensure the safety, health and well-being of our team, their families and our clients.
Whilst we have not been directly affected by a coronavirus / COVID-19 infection, from today 16th March 2020, we will be temporarily:
- Minimising the amount of client (and supplier etc.) meetings at our office and/or outside.
- Our staff will be working from home much more frequently.
- Our staff may be required to take unscheduled leave to look after school aged children where schools are forced to close.
If you are having trouble reaching our team via phone, rest assured we will all be checking emails regularly and will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.
As you will no doubt appreciate, this is an ever evolving situation, where change is happening on an hourly basis. The rapid escalation in the past 72 hours has caused us all to rethink the way we go about our daily business.
All services that we usually perform for clients will continue as normal but please be aware that turnaround times may be affected by the impact of these temporary changes.
We have made these temporary changes as it is our view that the well-being of our team, their families and our clients is paramount. Other changes may occur as conditions change, but our commitment to our clients remains as strong as ever.
Additionally, the Federal Government has announced increased tax benefits for individuals and businesses in response to the Coronavirus.
The announcements by Government late last week included:
- A temporary increase in the instant write off for assets up to $150,000
- A tax free payment of up to $25,000 to assist employers in meeting their wage commitments up to 30 June, 2020
- Wage subsidies for apprentices and trainees
- Additional payments to social security, veteran and other income support recipients and eligible concession card holders.
The finer details of how the stimulus package will be delivered are not yet fully released and we will be advising you further in the coming weeks as further information comes to hand.
